ITLAF Scholarship Program has a mission to provide financial assistance to young adult citizens of the United States who will attend an accredited College or University in the U.S. It is an opportunity to make an individual’s dream our dream. 

 

Scholarship Distribution Goals

  • TO ADDRESS low income high risk communities and households scholarships will be awarded based upon the financial need and an individual’s aspirations to receive an Associate’s or higher degree from an accredited College or University in the U.S.

  • WE WANT TO IMPACT risk communities and households by providing individual monetary amounts and the quantity of scholarships provided per year will be contingent upon ITLAF’s fiscal year budget and the approval of the Board of Directors. 

  • ITLAF'S GOAL is to ensure that those living in low income and high risk communities are afforded the opportunity to achieve higher learning. 

  • TO ADDRES the individual needs by providing  financial assistance in the form of a check to the institution in which the approved applicant is enrolled or will be at the time he/she receives the financial contribution.

 

Program Entry Requirements

  • The applicant must submit a completed application package to the identified Point of Contact person at ITLAF no later than the due date established by the Scholarship Program. The deadline is June 30th.

  • The applicant must be enrolled as a high school student or in a GED program, progressing normally toward completion of high school or the G.E.D. program. 

  • The applicant must be at least 18 years old.

  • The applicant must be planning to enroll in a College or University in the next quarter/semester following the   completion of high school or the G.E.D. program.

  • The applicant must be enrolled as a part-time or full-time student in an accredited College or University within the United States with a goal to complete an associate's or higher degree.

  • The applicant must be a citizen of the United States.

  • The applicant must exemplify a financial need for assistance based on annual household income and size of family.

  • The applicant will be required to submit a one page, typed, single lined, 12 font 300 word minimum essay explaining their academic aspirations.

  • The applicant must submit at least two letters of recommendation from a teacher, church leader or other leader that is knowledgeable with the economic and or academic background/history of the applicant.

  • The applicant must provide a copy of their current 1040 tax form to verify their income level.

Program Reconsideration Requirements

  • ITLAF will require copies of the award recipient’s grades for each quarter/semester that they are enrolled in the college or university in which the degree will be obtained.

  • Copies of the grades must be received by mail to the ITLAF Headquarters within 21 business days after the award recipient has received the original grades from his/her college or university.

  • The name, email and telephone number of a faculty member will be required for contact verification purposes.

  • A typed letter from a college or university staff member on letterhead will be required to verify that each applicant is currently enrolled and in good standing with the college or university in which the degree is being pursued.

 

Applicant’s Obligations

  • ITLAF will require copies of the award recipient’s grades for each quarter/semester that they are enrolled in the college or university in which the degree will be obtained.

Denial Notifications

  • All applicants will be notified in writing regarding their acceptance or denial of a scholarship.

  • Letters will be sent no later than 21 business days after the final evaluation process from the Board of Directors to notify each applicant of their status.

  • Applicants that were not approved for a scholarship will be allowed to reapply for a scholarship in the future.

 

Monitor Plan

  • A bi-yearly evaluation will be conducted by ITLAF’s Board of Directors to monitor the effectiveness of the program and devise ways to expand and enhance its success.

 

Awards

ITLAF will solicit funds in the form of grants and monetary contributions from the general public to support the Scholarship Program and assist in its overall monetary maintenance and success. As of the issuance date, this solicitation is being issued “Subject to the Availability of Funds.” Therefore, no awards can be made until the funds have been provided. Upon the allocation of the funding, notification to the ITLAF Board Members will be made. Funding is required by the grant award time frame.

 

Violation of the Requirements

ITLAF reserves the right to request reimbursement of any funds provided to an applicant that has violated the program’s requirements/expectations or falsified information on an application.
